From the recording Miracle Of Forgetting (2003)
In my writing notebook, at the bottom of the page, I wrote, “I wanted a no-brainer." A friend of mine was going through a breakup with his then-girlfriend so I wrote this in honor of the event that was both necessary and probably best for both of them.
Written 8:30 - 10:30am on 4/17/01.
Lyrics
Don’t call, don’t write
Try not to think about thinking of me
Don’t call, don’t write
This is the way that it has to be
It’s a no-win situation
It’s a one way underground
It’s a losing uphill battle
In this one horse town
She said, “it’s best
if we just went our separate ways"
She thought that love was lost
She said she just got scared
It’s a no-win situation
It’s a one way underground
It’s a losing uphill battle
In this one horse town
I always loved her tender face
I always loved her simple ways
But I forgot to need her
Like I needed her
It’s a no-win situation
It’s a one way underground
It’s a losing uphill battle
In this one horse town
