I wrote this for my two boys, Ellis and Monroe. In the eventual certainty that I will, one day, do something to screw them up, as fathers are prone to do, it is my hope that they will be merciful to me, and remember and know beyond any shadow of doubt that God in heaven is perfect as Father.

Lyrics

I Will Go With You
(Eric Peters)

Born to life so frail
You looked as weak as wine
You both ruined and you made
This house I once called mine

Remember the saint you are
And how you brought birth to our lives
Does that give you hope?

If you feel like letting go
If you feel like giving up
If you feel like running away
I’ll go with you

I can see you as an infant child
Asleep in my midnight arms
There, I felt the weight of men
But you’re the farthest thing from a burden

Remember the ghosts we are
Wandering the wealth of our lives
Though we feel alone, we are never alone, no (remember)

If you feel like letting go
If you feel like giving up
If you feel like running away
I’ll go with you

We’re a long way from tomorrow
Just a breath beyond the past
But here we are in this moment
Building a kingdom that’s gonna last

So if you feel like letting go
If you feel like giving up
If you feel like running away (remember)
I will go with you
