I had been practicing diluting acrylics and making paint drip and trickle down (or up, or across) the surface. As with any work, these experiments were met with occasional success, and many disappointing results. If I remember correctly, this painting went through a few iterations before this, its final state. The light tones within the dark Prussian blue along the crest were the final touches.
